3 steps to eradicate overwhelm

I’d like to dig into the topic of feeling overwhelmed a little further by sharing 3 simple steps you can take to reduce your feelings of overwhelm and bring more calm and clarity into your life!

First off…

  1. Acknowledge that there’s a lot on your plate

Write down everything that’s on your to-do list, as well as everything that’s on your mind and happening in your life. (Or you can say it aloud, if that’s easier.)

Chances are, you’ll likely realize that you’ve got far more going on than you knew!

This alone can be incredibly helpful. Because when you acknowledge HOW MUCH STUFF you’re dealing with, you’ll see that the problem isn’t that you’re inept or disorganized. You’ve simply got a lot on your plate!

And YOU, awesome person, are dealing with it as best you can.

  1. Prioritize your to-do list

When all of the items on your lengthy to-do list are clamoring for your attention, it can be hard to discern what needs to happen now and what can be put aside for the moment.

Everything just feels LOUD.

That’s why it’s a good idea to re-evaluate your to-do list and decide which items absolutely need to be done ASAP, and which can be put aside or even struck off the list (or delegated to someone else) altogether.

Then look at the items that absolutely must be done and prioritize them in order of importance.

  1. Create a basic timeline, honoring your energy limits

Once you have prioritized your to-do list, take each task and break it down into smaller, doable actions and then schedule them in your calendar.

As you complete your schedule, be careful to give yourself enough time to complete each task! It’s important to be realistic about your energy limits and what you know you can handle in a given day or week.
